In fact, stress during meals can pull blood away from our stomach, decrease saliva, constrict the lower esophaegeal sphincter, decrease peristaltic movement and slow digestion in the stomach, and increase intestinal permeability leading to inflammation.



We must be in a state of rest and relaxation during our meals to insure proper digestion.

One simple habit to improve digestion is to slow down and take a deep breath before meals to allow the body to come into a parasympathetic state.
