Do you struggle with depression? Getting your 15 minutes of morning sunlight is so important!

A decrease in sunlight exposure is associated with a drop in serotonin levels. Serotonin is associated with boosting mood and helping a person feel calm and focused. And in fact, low levels of serotonin are associated with a higher risk of major depression.

Sunlight actually cues special areas in the retina and this triggers the release of serotonin.

Multiple studies (Pub Med 11223110 and 2728098) show that "morning sunlight reduces length of hospitalization in bipolar depression."

This study showed that bipolar patients in east facing rooms exposed to direct sunlight in the morning had a mean 3.67 day shorter hospital stay than patients in west facing rooms.

So, if you want a mood boost...get that morning sunlight into your eyeballs!
